Date: Thu, 20th May 2021, 19:30 - 21:00
Venue: Zoom
The Alexandra Bedspread is a signature textile created 1922/23 in Loughborough to help raise the final funds needed to complete the building of the Carillon Tower. There are approx 500 signatures on the Bedspread. Over the last 2 and half years Deborah, with the help of the Local History Volunteers have begun to discover who exactly signed the bedspread, where it was created and the stories behind the signatures.
The Bedspread provides a window onto 1920's Loughborough, post WW1 Britain and the British social structure of the time. Discover the Loughborough link to Queen Alexandra and Winston Churchill.
